Lazy
Microsonics (Dr Jim 31) Links Related Releases Lazy are a duo who have been engaged in a process of continuous re-invention over the years they have played together, always improving but utilising diverse strands as pop hardcore and free jazz. The free jazz has been at the nucleus of their work and the Microsonics CD represents this. The instrumentation in this recording of seven extant improvisations is stark in its simplicity. Sean Baxter plays drum kit with his hands and other utensils. Dave Brown (a.k.a. candlesnuffer) plays a stratocaster electric guitar unplugged but with microphones placed very close to the instrument. The resultant works have startling dynamics, with a strong feeling of compositional development. The seven improvised works appear in the order they were recorded in the one session by James Wilkinson (of bucketrider, in which he performs alongside David and Sean, as well as Tim O'Dwyer and Adam Simmons). Each piece has been titled with a mathematical formula.
